Job Summary
This position is responsible for projects that include new product development, assistance and product line support. It leads R&D efforts in product and process improvement while utilizing best manufacturing practices and lean methodologies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Works with department planner to create production work orders based on master schedule and MRP requirements.
- Prepares work order packets for each work order.
- Reviews and releases work orders to production.
- Schedules and re-schedules work orders on the shop floor based on availability of capacity and master schedule demand.
- Updates and maintains monthly schedule file.
- Identifies purchasing and internal shortages and follows up with the responsible buyer or planner.
- Escalates issues to the next appropriate level.
- Assists with the investigation and resolution of issues related to past due shipments/work orders and material shortages.
- Participates in lean initiatives including but not limited to: kanban, one-piece flow, and inventory reduction.
- Maintains planning metrics.
- Coordinates with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, engineering, sales, and other support teams to alleviate constraints to on-time delivery.
- Maintains accurate records and files.
- Ability and willingness to train other employees.
- Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of projects.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; and resolving any problems as they come up.
- No direct reports.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies.
- Experience in project deliverables that are subjected to constraints of cost, time, and human resources.
- CAD/CAM experience (SolidWorks and or CATIA)
- Computer literate with excellent MS Office skills.
- The ability to read and interpret 3D models, 2D drawings, industry and customer specifications.
- Must be familiar with various manufacturing processes (Fabrication, Injection Molding, and Assembly).
- Excellent business sense with a capacity to be sensitive to cost drivers.
- Creative and progressive thinking with an ability to adapt to rapid change.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Experience in the plastic injection and/or aerospace industry is preferred.
Education/Previous Experience Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Three or more combined years of experience in Operations-based Project Management and/or Engineering with industrial experience preferred
