Job Title: Supervisor, Payroll

Location: Federal Way, WA, US (Onsite)

Salary: USD $55,000 – $75,500 / yr

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supervisor of Payroll to lead our payroll team and ensure the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payrolls, including special payrolls such as severance and bonuses. The successful candidate will oversee bi-weekly payroll processing, ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations, and drive continuous improvement in payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily payroll operations, including bonus processing and year-end reporting.
  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing and enforce deadlines, including review of audit reports.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Support Team to manage system maintenance and schedules.
  • Review and enhance payroll protocols, including manual checks and time clock records.
  • Train Payroll Coordinators and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all areas of payroll and field locations.
  • Conduct random reviews to ensure adherence to department standards and capture metrics.
  • Stay current on regulatory issues affecting payroll.
  • Provide leadership and support to direct reports, including hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Develop educational programs on company policies, new laws, and departmental processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ payroll experience in a multi-state, multi-EIN environment.
  • Proven knowledge of payroll laws, processes, and systems in a high-volume environment.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred.
  • Two to four years of supervisory experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and large-scale electronic payroll systems; Workday and PeopleNet experience preferred.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and basic proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • Strong ability to handle interpersonal situations, motivate team members, and manage workflow efficiently.
