What You'll Be Doing

As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing engineering projects in a heavy industrial setting. You will manage a team of engineers and designers to deliver projects on time, within budget, and meeting quality expectations. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that each project is efficiently managed from start to finish, with a focus on cost control, schedule management, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers and designers in delivering complex industrial projects.
  • Manage the financial health of projects, ensuring that professional service man-hours are accurately estimated and tracked.
  • Oversee project schedules and budgets, ensuring that goals are met within the designated timeframes.
  • Work closely with clients to define project scope, goals, and deliverables, and manage scope changes through a formal Change Management process.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment on all project aspects.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams, ensuring expectations are aligned and goals are achieved.
  • Provide construction-phase support, including addressing RFIs and assisting with start-up activities as needed.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure that all project documentation is reviewed and approved according to industry standards.
  • Ensure project closeout is completed as per client requirements and internal procedures.

Ideal Candidate

Education:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred.

Certification:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications are highly preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 15+ years of experience in engineering and project management, with significant experience in heavy industrial settings.
  • Strong background in managing projects in chemical plants or refining industries is a must.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects with expertise in cost control, scheduling, and quality management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise in project execution, engineering standards, and project control tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide project teams.
  • Ability to effectively manage client relationships and handle complex situations.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
