Salary Range: $350,000 - $450,000 per year

Position Summary:

As the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, you will serve as the chief legal officer for ACC, managing all legal and compliance matters, overseeing corporate governance, and advising the President and CEO. You will lead the Legal Services staff and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws while aligning legal strategies with organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Strategy: Develop and implement legal strategies, manage litigation, and collaborate with technical and policy teams on regulations and legislation affecting the business.
  • Legal Risk Management: Oversee legal risk management, including political and lobbying compliance. Manage contracts with outside parties.
  • Corporate Governance: Oversee Board and Board Committee operations, serving as Corporate Secretary. Ensure effective corporate governance practices.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable laws, including antitrust risks. Act as Chief Compliance Officer, managing the Code of Ethics and Conduct program.
  • Legal Services Management: Select, retain, and manage outside counsel. Oversee Legal Services department, including performance objectives and employee development.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the annual legal operational budget.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensure: Admission to the bar to practice law.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years as an attorney, with at least 8 years in advocacy or related roles. Demonstrated knowledge of the chemical or related industry.
  • Nice-to-Haves: Experience with federal government agencies (e.g., EPA), knowledge of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) laws, Board governance experience, and trade association experience.
