Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Service Unit Department Manager RN to lead and manage operations across large or multiple ambulatory care units. This role is critical in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
As a vital member of our leadership team, you will collaborate with healthcare providers to uphold our commitment to excellence in patient care and service delivery.
Essential Responsibilities
Operations & Compliance:
- Oversee daily operations for a large or multiple units, ensuring adherence to the Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, and local, state, and federal requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to establish and maintain patient care standards that meet organizational and patient expectations.
Patient Advocacy & Quality Improvement:
- Act as a patient advocate, addressing and resolving care-related concerns.
- Design, implement, and evaluate processes to improve patient outcomes and streamline care delivery.
Financial Oversight:
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to enhance cost efficiency while maintaining quality care.
Staff Management & Development:
- Lead recruitment, training, and ongoing competency development for department staff.
- Manage staffing levels to meet department needs and maintain a positive work environment.
Policy Development:
- Establish and enforce departmental policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with Physician Team Leaders and Department Chiefs to develop and manage the department’s strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of nursing management/leadership experience.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a health-related field (or 4 years of additional relevant experience).
- Active California Registered Nurse License.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in an outpatient care setting.
- Clinical specialization in the area of practice.
- Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field.
Travel Requirements:
Minimal travel required (up to 5%).
